I Can't Love You Until You Love Yourself by Amanda Mayfield

You said those words
Been on your mind
Been holding them back
Waiting for the right time

Timing is everything
Or so we’ve said
I’m finally ready
To put this to bed

Feeling lost
Running away
Away from myself
Away from it all

I can fix anything
Or so I’ve believed
As long as it’s not me
Or so I’ve perceived

I hear what you say
But feeling it’s hard
Am I capable
Of lowering my guard

Nothing else has worked
It’s time I try
To finally love myself
It’s taken so long
I can no longer deny

That this is the root
Of my own misery
The time in now
To set myself free

My head spins things out of control
Quiet the noise
Go down the rabbit hole

Find comfort in being
Stop striving for things
Be happy now
It’ll be freeing

Free from the pressure
Of playing a role
No one asked you to do it
It’s time to take back control

Let go of it all
The ideas aren’t real
Of who you think you should be
It’s time to heal

Just be you
It’s more than enough
Believe it
Feel it
I know it’s tough
