Poetry

Enough is Enough by Amanda Mayfield

A lone horse standing there
Near the raging riverbed
Separated from the steed
Unsure what he needs

Alone and confused
On the banks of Peru
Learning to let go
And when to say no

Enough is enough
You’re either in or you’re out
Can’t wait any longer
For you to figure out what you’re about

Lots of talk and no follow through
So hard to trust you
So many bad decisions
Still begging for compassion
But no sacrifices happen
Hard to feel for you
For the lack of following through what you say you’ll do

Excuse after excuse
No matter what you recluse
You push all good things away (especially me)
For you’re undeserving
In YOUR mind anyway

Enough is Enough
You’re either in or you’re out
Can’t wait any longer
For you to figure out what you’re about

Broken promises
Plans cancelled or changed
Inconsistent and unreliable
Are your new names

So hard to watch
For deep down I know you are not
The person you are showing me
How have you forgot?
Don’t you see?
You are your own worst enemy

Enough is Enough
You’re either in or you’re out
Can’t wait any longer
For you to figure out what you’re about

I believe in you so much
Let go of the crutch
The fear that you’ll fail
For I believe you’ll prevail
I’ve never led you astray
I’ll continue to pray

Now is the time
For you to let yourself shine
Risking it all
For I’ll catch you if you fall
